FIBA U20 basketball European Championship
Posted 07. july 2015

Even before the Tuesday opening tip at the U20 European Championship Division A in Italy, we know that this is destined to be a tournament unlike any other we have witnessed before. In Lignano Sabbiadoro from 7-19 July, the margin between triumph and failure will be more wafer thin than ever before in the history of the competition. That is because as many as seven of the 20 teams that enter the race will be sentenced to relegation to Division B by the end of the tournament. The teams that clinch the top three spots in each of the four groups, 12 in total, will advance and enter the race for the quarter-finals. The bottom two teams in each group, eight in total, will enter the relegation battle and only one of them will earn the right to maintain its Division A status.
