Champions League 1st matchday

There are couple of interesting matches on the 1st matchday, but considering that all the teams will meet the first time on this season, then all matches will be interesting to follow. There are two matchdays per week as always: groups A-D will play on Tuesday and E-H groups will play on Wednesday.Group A matches will be PSG - Malmö and Real - Shakhtar. Zlatan Ibrahimović is doubtful as Paris Saint-Germain host the Swedish striker's first club Malmö to begin a campaign that Laurent Blanc hopes will end in European glory. Group B matches will be Wolfsburg - CSKA and PSV - Manchester United. PSV Eindhoven coach Phillip Cocu says his team will "go for the win but not be naive" against Manchester United in their first group stage fixture since 2008/09. Group C matches will be Galatasaray - Atletico ja Benfica - Astana. Rui Vitória wants Benfica to keep up the form they showed in scoring six goals on Friday as they welcome Kazakhstan's debutants Astana in Group C. Group D matches will be Manchester City - Juventus ja Sevilla - Gladbach. Sergio Agüero will miss Manchester City's Group D opener against Juventus but the English side go into the match in top form while the Italian champions are struggling. Group E matches will be Leverkusen - BATE and Roma - Barcelona. Roma and Barca battle will be interesting to see, since the Spanish stars have been on fire latley and all the stars are healthy. Group F matches will be Zagreb - Arsenal and Olympiacos - Bayern München. Both Arsenal and Bayern are on the roll in their national leagues, but how will they play their first Champions League match this season? Group G matches will be Kiev - Porto and Chelsea - Maccabi. Porto stars are waiting to start their Champions League campaign with a bang, since last season end was not so pretty. Group H matches will be Valencia - Zenit and Gent - Lyon. Gent is makeing their first appearance in the Champions League, so it's interesting to see what they bring into this majestic league.
